Triple Captain is one of the most powerful chips in Fantasy Premier League, capable of turning one strong performance into a season-defining points haul. If you have watched a rival manager rocket up the rankings after a single Gameweek, this chip is often the reason.
TL;DR: Triple Captain triples your captain's points for a single Gameweek - you get one per season, so timing is everything.
Normally your captain scores double points, and your vice-captain covers you if the skipper does not play. Triple Captain overrides that bonus: the player wearing the armband scores three times their usual points for that Gameweek only.
A striker who returns a goal, an assist and maximum bonus might bank around 13 points. Triple that and you are looking at 39 points from a single pick — enough to swing mini-leagues alone.
Timing separates a good chip from a wasted one. The classic approach is targeting a Double Gameweek, when a team plays twice in the same round, giving your captain two chances to haul.
The ideal candidate combines a home fixture or two favourable matchups, strong form with set-piece involvement, and high ownership - matching the crowd protects your rank if the pick explodes.
Triple Captain is all or nothing. If your star is benched, injured in training, or blanks, the chip is gone. Fixtures and rotation risk therefore matter more here than with any other chip.
Per the official Premier League FPL rules, chips must be played before the Gameweek deadline and cannot be cancelled once confirmed. Smart managers check team news and predicted lineups before committing.

Used well, Triple Captain is the difference between an average season and a memorable one. Plan it around a Double Gameweek, back a player in form, and commit.
